Ronnie Peterson was killed in the previous F1 race at Monza and Jarier was brought in to drive the second team car for the final two races of the
1978 season. Note that rather than bearing Peterson’s number, 6, this car was number 55. The press is more interested about Andretti, who had just clinched the world title.

1978 Italian Grand Prix, this was the first use of the now standard procedure of having a specially trained medical team line up behind the cars at the start of the race and follow them for most of the first lap. In this race, the Medical car hit a curb and was in the air for a short period of time.
