The horrible accident of Le Mans, 1955.
Pierre Levegh’s Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR ran into Lance Macklin’s Austin-Healey 100 and crashed into the audience, killing 83 spectators and Mr. Levegh himself. The crash resulted in a new pit being built.
